 Drama

Students have the opportunity to flex their creativity in an after-school Drama Program.  Volunteers lead the groups in choosing, rehearsing, and producing skits which are performed in a variety of venues.  Students in the primary grades act out stories and fables which have moral lessons. Older students delve into classics such as "Little Women" and "Anne of Green Gables", while others groups keep us laughing with comedic spoofs.  Special events such as "The Missoula Theater" touring group give our students opportunities to work with professional actors/actresses.  The children spend a week in intense training, then present the play to a parish wide audience. Students learn to work together and respect each other's ideas. Children who have never had an opportunity to shine in other arenas can display their own special gifts given to them by God.

 Chess

Kindergarten through 8th grade students can participate in the Chess Club. Students meet weekly to play games against each other and to learn new skills. The children are divided into small, supervised groups according to skill level: beginner, intermediate I and II and advanced. Twice a year, an in-house tournaments are held to allow the players to challenge each other to championship games. All children receive recognition for their achievements. Many players enjoy attending off-campus tournaments as well, and some have ascended to the state tournament level. Our goal is to promote a love of the game as well as to develop logic and problem solving skills. The participants have fun playing games while developing great skills that will be used both at school and in their future.

Cub Scouts

Cub Scouting means “doing”.  Everything in Cub Scouting is designed to have the boys doing things.  Activities are used to achieve the aims of Scouting, which includes citizenship training, character development, and outdoor skills.  Cub Scouts belong to a “pack”, which meets once a month, and are assigned to a “den”, usually a smaller group of six to eight boys.  First-grade boys (Tiger Cubs) meet twice a month, while Wolf Cub Scouts (2nd grade), Bear Cub Scouts (3rd grade), and Webelos (4th and 5th grades) meet weekly.  Achievements are noted with badges, pins, & other awards.

St Thomas More Parish is the sponsor of Pack 363, which includes boys from STMS and others from Snohomish County Christian, Meadowdale, Beverly and Lynndale Elementary Schools.  The current Cub Master is Tim Hogan (425-742-2769).  Pack 363 enjoys fun-filled events throughout the year, like the Pinewood Derby, a bike rodeo, marching in the Edmonds 4th of July parade, gathering with Scouts from over the border at the Peace Arch in Blaine, day camps, and more.

CYO Sports

STMS students are involved and having a lot of fun participating in a variety of CYO sports.  This year, we restarted our CYO program with a 7th Grade basketball team. Ten of the twelve players were 7th Grade STMS students, and two other parish 7th Graders combined to form a very competitive team.  This team played extremely well together, won first place in the CYO Northern AA Division, and made it to the semifinals in the end-of-season All-CYO-Championships!  They lost a hard-fought contest to a quick team from St. Therese, in Seattle.

We also have three volleyball teams that started play on March 3rd.  We have STMS girls in 5th and 6th Grade playing in the 6th Grade girls league, girls from 7th and 8th Grade playing in the 8th Grade girls league, and Boys from the 7th grade playing with boys from St. Luke in the 8th Grade league.
