As you have hopefully seen, STMS is having a Book Fair at Barnes & Noble June 2nd -9th.
To kick off the event, every half hour on June 2nd from 3:30-6:30 an STM teacher, student, or staff member will be reading a storybook in the children’s area at the Alderwood Barnes & Noble.
For Middle School, though, we planned an extra-special event: THE GREAT ALDERWOOD BOOK HUNT!
THIS IS FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL ONLY!
FRIDAY, JUNE 2ND 6:45-8:30 PM.
The staff at the Alderwood Barnes & Noble have created a scavenger hunt to be completed within the store.
Each item on the list is given a point value based on difficulty. Teams complete as many items on the list as they can and take pictures of them completing the challenge.
Students form teams of 2-5 players.
They must have an internet and camera ready device (smart phone), per team.
Each team must also have access to a Facebook account – parents this is where you come in. Your child’s team may need access to your Facebook account, or perhaps set up a “ghost” account for the event.
Teams arrive at 6:45 to receive their instruction packet.
From 7-8:30 students complete the challenges on the list, but they have to post it to Facebook with certain hashtags. This is how the store keeps track of team points. (this will be in the instruction packet)
The store will tally all the points, based upon the hashtags, and will notify Miss Watters of the winning team by Tuesday, June 6th.
THERE WILL BE PRIZES FOR THE WINNING TEAM AS WELL AS FOR THE “BEST SUBMITTED PHOTO” (as deemed by the B&N staff).
Miss Watters has spoken to the middle school classes about the event. Please talk to your child about participating and discuss how they will be able to post their pictures. If there is a problem for any team with this or you have any questions, please contact Miss Watters.
It will be a FUN event!!!
