Stewardship Projects

At our school, community service and stewardship are integral to student formation, with every grade level actively participating in meaningful service projects throughout the year. From helping local charities to environmental initiatives, students are encouraged to serve others and care for the world around them.

Engaging in community service fosters empathy, responsibility, and a sense of purpose, helping students develop a deeper understanding of their role in creating positive change. Through hands-on experiences, students build leadership skills, work collaboratively, and cultivate a lifelong commitment to service. These opportunities not only enrich their personal development but also reinforce the values of compassion, humility, and stewardship that are essential to their growth as thoughtful, engaged citizens.

 

Examples of Classroom Stewardship Projects

At our Catholic school, each grade level participates in stewardship projects that reflect our faith’s call to serve others and care for God’s creation:

  • Kindergarten: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle – Emphasizing the importance of environmental stewardship and caring for the Earth God gave us.
  • First Grade: PenPal Letters to Next Step Pregnancy – Offering support and encouragement to expectant mothers through compassionate communication.
  • Second Grade: God’s Creatures – Caring for chicken eggs for hatching and the collection of batteries for proper recycling, fostering an understanding of care for all of God’s creatures and the earth God has entrusted to us.
  • Third Grade: Wounded Warrior Project – Making Veterans Day cards and raising money for wounded veterans, promoting gratitude and solidarity.
  • Fourth Grade: Caring for God’s Creation – Raising and releasing chum salmon as part of an environmental conservation project, teaching respect for life and nature.
  • Fifth Grade: Community garden – Caring for the garden through weeding, planting, watering, and harvesting vegetables, which are donated to the Lynwood Food Bank to help those in need.
  • Sixth Grade: Making paper cranes and sending them to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park in Japan – Offering prayers to people in Japan, encouraging peace around the world.
  • Seventh Grade: Monthly Trips to the Local Food Bank – Responding to the call of Christ to feed the hungry, through regular service at the food bank.
  • Eighth Grade: Faith Families – Leading and mentoring younger students in faith-based activities, fostering community, leadership, and spiritual growth.

These projects align with our Catholic values, helping students deepen their faith while growing in compassion, responsibility, and service to others.
